Once we get over those hurdles, we'll be doing more "studio" shows and - if all works well - live remotes.

Anyway, give our first show a spin. We interviewed Glenn Nielsen, Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Missouri, with lots of good information and shameless promotions of the political kind strewn throughout.

Speaking of promotions, coming up in a few weeks will be a special election in the 62nd House district (Branson, MO area), so if you live in that area please check out Patty Tweedle's website and hear what she has to say. You'll be glad you did. Reagan started it in 1980 when he gave a speech at then whites only Bob Jones University. That is as far as they want state rights to go.

To those who still cling bitterly to the above ideal of federal vs. state power... knock it off. Despite his critics’ charges of “socialism” and “fascism,” President Obama is showing that his administration, unlike the Bush White House, is willing to stick its neck out for states’ rights. ...

FINALLY, Obama does something right. Let's see if he caves in like GW Bush did in 1999, when he said states should have the right to determine their own medical-marijuana laws.

For another states' rights story, link here.
Site Feed

Well, fine, Senator...

...keep pushing the GOP further towards oblivion:

"I love this party," [Sen. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
08/24/2009

A federal search warrant obtained by the Post-Dispatch connects a former Democratic campaign strategist to a bombing last year that injured a Clayton attorney.

About two months after the October bombing, federal law enforcement officials searched a downtown loft rented by Milton H. "Skip" Ohlsen III, seeking "evidence related to the planning, execution, and/or cover-up of the bombing in Clayton, Missouri, on Oct. 16, 2008." ...

Ohlsen is the former Democratic operative involved in the federal investigation into the failed 2004 Congressional campaign of Jeff Smith. Smith, now a state senator from St. Louis, and Steve Brown, a state representative from Clayton, have been involved in that federal inquiry, according to state government sources.

The FBI has said it will neither confirm nor deny an investigation involving Smith’s 2004 run for Congress against eventual winner Russ Carnahan. During that race, Carnahan filed a Federal Elections Commission complaint alleging the campaigns of Smith and Joan Barry skirted federal law by helping produce anonymous fliers that were critical of Carnahan.

FEC investigators determined Ohlsen was responsible for the fliers. Ohlsen told investigators he had numerous connections to the Smith campaign.

From former Springfield newspaper dude, Tony Messenger:

JEFFERSON CITY — State Rep. Steve Brown, D-Clayton will plead guilty in federal court today to a single count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, according to his attorney, Art Margulis.

The charge is related to Brown’s work on the 2004 Congressional campaign of Jeff Smith. In that campaign, Smith and 9 other challengers lost to Russ Carnahan, now a U.S. Congressman from the 3rd District. Brown and Smith were involved in the distribution of anonymous fliers criticizing Carnahan, according to an FEC complaint filed by Carnahan in 2004. ...

Now, it's the Republicans' turn to commit some crimes. Meanwhile, this quote from a commenter on the last story above, sums things up quite nicely:

You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a crooked politician of either party.

Got that right.

If America doesn't wake up soon, and vote out EVERY incumbent - without regard to party affiliation - things are just going to get worse. And it won't be just because a few people yell at incumbents at health-care townhall meetings - that will be the LEAST of our worries.
Site Feed

Just a NORML episode

Click here for our latest episode of Show-Me Libertarians. Gag them, bag them, tranquilize them, arrest them, and toss them in prison indefinitely. Teabagging anti-Democracy hicks are terrorists and anti-American.

Where's the love, liberals?

And where's the consistency of "staged, 'Astroturfed' events"? Your side is far more guilty of interrupting than the supposed "paid, Brooks Brothers-suit wearing Tea Party" protesters.

Don't like the concept of dissent when it's your party in power, do you? (To be honest, Republicans didn't like dissent when THEY had power, either.)

Too bad. This is still America, and people still have the right to disagree with their government. We had a catch-all, many-topics episode, with a call-in from Springfield Councilman Doug Burlison, with whom we talked about sensitive issues like the police/fire pension problem, eminent domain, the Henry Louis Gates arrest, and the (unfortunately) misunderstood rescinding of an anti-gay ordinance that has gotten some local handwringers spooked so badly, they probably think they'll be forced to witness gay weddings in the future.

As usual, we had our fun, broaching serious topics and being irreverent and politically-incorrect, mostly at each others' expense.

Folks, we're under no illusions that we'll have millions of listeners... we're amateur internet radio hosts (some of which do rather well, however). The main reason we do it is because the FCC can't mess with it - at least, not yet.

Freedom is worth talking about, and that's what our main goal is on our show.

***

Reminder: Our local Libertarian Party branch will be meeting at 6 PM, this Saturday, at the Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway.
