This is a touchy subject, this illegal immigration problem... there's no quick fix, no easy answers. And until we can get to a world where we don't NEED immigration laws - if, indeed, we can do so - we do need to address the problems and ramifications of those who violate said laws.

I applaud Councilman Burlison's approach, and I know the man well enough to say, right up front... don't even bother with the labels, because they don't apply to Burlison. Real racists and bigots, save the epithets for those freakjobs.

Springfield, Missouri is poised to become a real force in the near future. We need and welcome LEGAL immigrants, the ones who go through the time and expense to become American citizens.

If there comes a day when we can evolve to the point we don't need borders... great. But in the meantime, we can't just let anyone come from anywhere and not even bother to check-in at the front desk to sign the guestbook.
