Local Libertarian gains City Council seat.
The past few posts have been about the campaign of Doug Burlison for the Springfield, Missouri City Council race.Tonight, that battle was won. Doug beat an entrenched incumbent with more resources. And now, the third-largest city in Missouri now has a Libertarian in its City Council. Now, this city can finally say it has someone of integrity and accountability, someone who cannot and will not profit from holding that position, a person who can be truly objective in commerce matters brought before that Council.
Many thanks go out to many people... the volunteers who helped hand out fliers and put out yard signs, and - especially - the voters who made the right choice this election day.
Doug Burlison is very humbled by this victory, and is looking forward to serving his city well. And the citizens of Springfield, Missouri, can look forward to the upcoming changes in the city leadership, as Doug is joined by two new Council members.
This is a great victory for Libertarians in the Springfield area, as well. We may not have the resources of the RepubliCrats, but we're tenacious and determined to make a difference. Well... now we can.
